Winding Down the Weekend with Sunday Roast @ Bistro C

Many of my most cherished childhood memories centre around celebratory meals spent with family and close friends, so it’s perhaps with this in mind that I simply can’t go past Bistro C’s Sunday Roast Nights.

After recently launching a new look and all inclusive concept where everyone is welcome, it looks like Bistro C at The Canggu Club is fast becoming a firm favourite with diners in the ‘Gu and beyond if bums on seats is anything to go by, and their recent addition of the Sunday Roast is no exception.

Aside from the obvious appeal of a scrumptious roast dinner, it’s a fabulous way to wind down the weekend and enjoy some time to dine with family and friends. Roast night kicks off from 5pm when members of the general public are also welcome to join Canggu Club members and enjoy the casual coastal ambience and al fresco atmosphere of Bistro C. It’s the perfect time of the afternoon as the sun has lost its sting but there’s still plenty of light for the kids to work up an appetite with a run around the lawn or a carefree kick of footy with friends. Mum and Dad can join in or keep an eye on them while reclining on the lounge with a cleansing ale or cheeky cocktail until it’s time to dine.

Choose from a succulent selection of roast beef, chicken or pork or for those with less of a predilection toward carnivorous tendencies, there are also vegetarian options available. Your hearty feed arrives at the table, piled high with lashings of juicy meat, roasted potatoes, pumpkin, healthy greens and my all time favourite – cauliflower cheese. (sorry kids, don’t even bother looking for leftovers on my plate!) Of course, choose roast pork and it comes complete with crunchy crackling, roast chicken is accompanied by a good dollop of slightly-naughty-but-absolutely-necessary herbed stuffing and moist Yorkshire Puds sit aside the roast beef. It’s everything a roast dinner should be!

Along with the opportunity for non members to experience dining in the casual elegance of The Canggu Club, Bistro C is also offering Gold, Silver and Platinum members 50% discount of food and beverage from 5pm, so Sunday nights out are hardly likely to stretch the family budget to breaking point! Don’t fancy a roast dinner? (though I’d warrant you’ll have some food envy when you see what’s on the plate) diners are most welcome to order from the regular a la carte menu and after sampling a few of the items on offer, I’ll bet my cauliflower and cheese that you’ll find something on there to tickle your palate.

If the kids are first to clear their plates, they can simply grab a beanbag and flop down in front of a family friendly movie on the big screen from 6pm so you can relax with a wine, soak up any remains of gravy and enjoy a stress free finish to your Sunday.
So put the surfboards away for the day, rinse off the remnants of salt and sand from your afternoon on the waves and head to Bistro C for roast dinner this Sunday. It’s a fabulous way to wrap up a weekend with family, reconnect with friends and maybe even rekindle a few of those childhood memories of how a Sunday dinner should be.

Walk to Celebrate the Mother in Every Woman!

Celebrated on various different days across many countries, Mothers’ Day pays respect to mothers and maternal figures and believe it or not, can even be traced way back to the Ancient Greeks and Romans!

But it is important to understand that ‘mums’ come in many forms, and despite whether a woman’s maternal role is biological, adoptive, step mum, foster mum, grandmother, aunt, big sister, teacher, friend or otherwise, Mothers’ Day is an opportunity to celebrate ALL women.

In recognition of the idea that all women are mothers regardless of having birthed a child or not, The Canggu Club is celebrating Mothers’ Day with their Walk for Women on Sunday, May 8th – a date on which more than seventy countries throughout the world honour their mums!

Not only is it an opportunity to pay homage to all of those special “IBU’S” in our lives, but all profits and funds raised will go directly to Bali Mother and Baby House. This is a relatively new initiative designed to provide assistance, education and support to women and teens as well as a temporary house for new born, abandoned babies.

Nothing too strenuous and designed to encourage every body and build, Walk for Women is a 3km fun walk around the Canggu Club Sports Field. It’s a day to get everyone out of bed and involved in some fun for a good cause. Gates will open from 8am with a heart starting Zumba warm up from 8.30am. The walk commences from 9am and the whole family can get in on the act and dress up for the chance to win loads of prizes and giveaways.

There’ll be awards for Best Dressed Individual and Team, Biggest Team, Lucky Door and Biggest Fundraiser. Grab a sponsor form when you register for the walk and encourage friends, family or complete strangers to sponsor your laps to raise more money for this worthy support centre for women and babies.

After the walk is completed, the shenanigans are set to continue with an obstacle course and games, guaranteeing good clean fun for family members of all ages. Stay on after your morning of exercise, grab some well earned sustenance from the numerous food stalls and enjoy live music at Bistro C, or send the kids to cool off at Splash while you celebrate the rest of Mothers’ Day!

Participation in the walk is Rp100,000 per adult and Rp50,000 per child and includes event entry, t shirt, water, fruit and a free foot or shoulder massage! For non Canggu Club members who would also like to include entry to Splash Water Park, registration is Rp300,000 per adult and Rp180,000 per child and allows participants to enjoy all of the fun and facilities of Splash for the remainder of the afternoon.

Those wishing to participate in the Walk for Women are required to register by May 3rd at either Canggu Club reception or online via: for women/book

As women, we are by nature, maternal in the way that we nurture our children, the children of others, our pets, partners and even our friends and employees. There’s strength in numbers ladies, so come along on Sunday May 8th with your siblings, sons, daughters and significant others to celebrate mothers everywhere and walk for a wonderful cause.

An Opportunity to Remember, Recognise & Celebrate

Anzac Day is one of great importance to Australians and New Zealanders along with many others around the world. Not only does it give us a chance to recognise and remember all those who served and died in war and operational service, but continues to give relevance to a sense of national identity, highlighting the spirit of the ANZAC and their qualities of courage, mateship and sacrifice.

Though it may be far from Turkish shores, the Canggu Club are committed to ensuring we all get a chance to remember on Anzac Day. As April 25th 2016 falls on a Monday, a day when many are returning to the working week, the team at The Club have put together a two day line up with activities commencing on Sunday April 24th, so everyone gets a chance to celebrate.

Kick off with a game of Two Up at Splash from 11am and continue with an Aussie BBQ lunch, Anzac cookies and an all day happy hour! Kids get the chance to try their hand at damper making from 2pm. There’s nothing like watching a game of footy on Anzac Day and the Sports Bar will provide cool, air conditioned coverage of the day’s line up of NRL and AFL matches. Seal off family friendly Sunday celebrations with live music at Bistro C from 5pm, along with games on the lawn, sunset two up and sink your teeth into a sumptuous roast dinner (Yes! Aussie lamb and beef included) with all the trimmings.

Now if work doesn’t threaten to interfere with your Anzac Day experience, come along and celebrate on Monday April 25th with a similar line up of activities commencing with Two Up from 11am, Anzac Cookies and BBQ. Don’t miss a minute of the classic AFL Anzac Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon, broadcast live in The Sports Bar.

Get the kids involved in some Anzac Day after school activities with free poppy wreath making from 4-6pm as well as a free sausage sizzle for all children under 12 at 5pm.

6pm will see the going down of the sun and commencement of Canggu Club’s Anzac Day dusk ceremony – laying of the poppy wreaths, The Last Post and a minute’s silence to remember the fallen.

In recognition of the Anzac spirit and friendly rivalry between the two nations, join in and be a part of Tag Rugby – Aus V NZ. To register your interest to play please contact the team at: . Whether you’re on the field or cheering from the sidelines, it’s a great way to wind up the day. Of course Bistro C is open to the public from 5pm and members can take advantage of discounted deals on food and beverages!

Canggu Club would also like to recognise and pay respect to past and present Australian and New Zealand armed forces personnel by offering them free entry to The Club for the Anzac Day celebrations.

Not just for the Aussies and Kiwis, Anzac Day is an opportunity to get together and remember the courage others have shown to guarantee the freedom for many.
