An Opportunity to Remember, Recognise & Celebrate

Anzac Day is one of great importance to Australians and New Zealanders along with many others around the world. Not only does it give us a chance to recognise and remember all those who served and died in war and operational service, but continues to give relevance to a sense of national identity, highlighting the spirit of the ANZAC and their qualities of courage, mateship and sacrifice.

Though it may be far from Turkish shores, the Canggu Club are committed to ensuring we all get a chance to remember on Anzac Day. As April 25th 2016 falls on a Monday, a day when many are returning to the working week, the team at The Club have put together a two day line up with activities commencing on Sunday April 24th, so everyone gets a chance to celebrate.

Kick off with a game of Two Up at Splash from 11am and continue with an Aussie BBQ lunch, Anzac cookies and an all day happy hour! Kids get the chance to try their hand at damper making from 2pm. There’s nothing like watching a game of footy on Anzac Day and the Sports Bar will provide cool, air conditioned coverage of the day’s line up of NRL and AFL matches. Seal off family friendly Sunday celebrations with live music at Bistro C from 5pm, along with games on the lawn, sunset two up and sink your teeth into a sumptuous roast dinner (Yes! Aussie lamb and beef included) with all the trimmings.

Now if work doesn’t threaten to interfere with your Anzac Day experience, come along and celebrate on Monday April 25th with a similar line up of activities commencing with Two Up from 11am, Anzac Cookies and BBQ. Don’t miss a minute of the classic AFL Anzac Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon, broadcast live in The Sports Bar.

Get the kids involved in some Anzac Day after school activities with free poppy wreath making from 4-6pm as well as a free sausage sizzle for all children under 12 at 5pm.

6pm will see the going down of the sun and commencement of Canggu Club’s Anzac Day dusk ceremony – laying of the poppy wreaths, The Last Post and a minute’s silence to remember the fallen.

In recognition of the Anzac spirit and friendly rivalry between the two nations, join in and be a part of Tag Rugby – Aus V NZ. To register your interest to play please contact the team at: events@cangguclub.com . Whether you’re on the field or cheering from the sidelines, it’s a great way to wind up the day. Of course Bistro C is open to the public from 5pm and members can take advantage of discounted deals on food and beverages!

Canggu Club would also like to recognise and pay respect to past and present Australian and New Zealand armed forces personnel by offering them free entry to The Club for the Anzac Day celebrations.

Not just for the Aussies and Kiwis, Anzac Day is an opportunity to get together and remember the courage others have shown to guarantee the freedom for many.
