It’s a new year and it’s a new term for the Junior Sports Academy!

Aligned with the Bali international schools calendar, the JSA term is ready to kick off for another season of awesome student sports.

With nine different activities including a couple of newcomers to the block, this organisation, focused on encouraging kids to play, enhance skills and develop socially, truly has a sport to suit all tastes. Generally running the duration of each school term, all JSA programs enlist the facilities of The Canggu Club, ensuring a safe, accessible and secure environment and students are under the tutelage of professionally trained and experienced coaches.

Term three still offers all the favourites like the consistently popular soccer, now on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Groups are divided into Tots, years 7+ and 9 years and over so that players get the optimum opportunity to develop necessary skills and play as part of a team amongst their peers.

With Olympian Luisa at the helm, swimming at JSA is stronger than ever and classes run after school from Monday to Saturday with lessons from beginners through to intermediate and advanced. There is even a baby swim class on Thursdays at 10.30am for new aqua bubs!

Gymnastics, dance and trampolining continue to be popular choices.

Two new sports to the JSA line up are Netball and Tag Rugby. As an exciting addition to the existing two football codes, soccer and AFL Auskick, Tag Rugby is a whole new ball game. Still with the same basic skills as rugby, this game encourages on field agility and develops ball handling skills without the risks of scrums and tackles. Using special velcro tags, the aim of the game is to score a try and evade ‘de tagging’ by the opposition. Fast moving and lots of fun, Tag Rugby is sure to be a winner with sessions for 11 year olds and under along with another for 12 years and above, both scheduled for Monday afternoons.

Netball is also new and with impassioned and experienced player Yvette Manuel guiding the group, this sport is certain to generate some interest. Whether you are new to a netball court or you have been playing for seasons, netball at the Junior Sport Academy encourages everyone to have a go at shooting some goals. Sessions are every Monday and Wednesday. Teams are divided for youngsters from 8 – 11 years and one for 12 years and over. Netball training is located on the Canggu Club sports field, or at the Multi Function Hall at CCS in the case of wet weather.

Advance payment for 8 sessions or more can be made for all sports and Canggu Club members also enjoy a discounted price per session. For specific information regarding fees and session times for each sport, go to their website jsabali.com and click on the sports tab at the top of the home page. Term 3 commences this week (beginning Monday January 18th) but players are welcome to join at any time throughout the term. Get your kids off to a healthy start for 2016 and enroll today!
