The Canggu Classic Open Tennis Tournament commences with its sensational opening night cocktail party and an opportunity for guests to keep Bali clean and green.
Each year, The Canggu Classic Open Tennis Tournament chooses to support a different local charity and this year’s worthy recipient is Keep Bali Clean, an initiative aimed at reducing Bali’s prolific problem with rubbish. It is a community based program that assists in the drive to rid our island paradise of the plastic and non biodegradable refuse that currently clogs its waterways and beaches, threatening the very tourism dollars that the locals rely so heavily upon.
Ultimately the campaign is funded through T-shirt sales and donations from businesses and generous individuals. The program focuses on increasing the awareness for visitors and locals alike about choosing reusable bags, using less plastic and attempting to reduce their carbon footprint. Still in its infancy, the Keep Bali Clean campaign may have only been operational for a relatively short period of time however it has already managed to distribute over 30,000 reusable bags to consumers across the island as well as raising awareness via television ads.
In an effort to add a healthy boost to its fundraising coffers, 100% of the proceeds from the sweeps and raffles held throughout the Canggu Classic Open Tennis Tournament will go towards the Keep Bali Clean campaign and they will also operate a stall at the opening night cocktail party on Friday May 22nd.
The fun filled evening marks the commencement of the island’s annual international tennis event and kicks off in the stylish
Strike Bar adjacent to the Tennis Centre at Canggu Club West from 6pm. Tickets to the gala cocktail evening are included in the registration for all tournament players and individual tickets are available for non-players at a cost of just Rp 300,000 per person. Entry for children under twelve will be free of charge. The night promises to be an entertaining affair including two hours free flow cocktails and complimentary canapés as well as a live DJ to help you get into your groove and rock the night away. The players’ draw for the tournament will be unveiled at the opening party and is sure to spark some good spirited rivalry among prospective opponents!

Staff Gatherings in the ‘Gu… A Gaggle of Fun!
What do you get when you combine 400 employees, a green grassy field, a dance instructor and a microphone? An awesome staff day out! Recently, Canggu Club played host to a mega staff gathering for one of the island’s largest banking groups. No less than 400 of their staff descended upon the one-stop sports and entertainment venue for a day of fun, food and friendly rivalry.
The gathering began early with team building activities and games, followed by possibly the biggest Zumba class Bali has ever seen on the Canggu Club lawn. All participants, brightly dressed in team colours, giggled and wiggled their way through the dance class with some moves that would have had many an observer in stitches! The day continued with an Indonesian buffet lunch and group presentations under the all weather, open air function areas above Splash Water Park, after which they enjoyed some aquatic fun on the slides to finish of a day of festivities.
