Responsibilities
- Keep a constant watch over the designated area to identify potential hazards, distressed swimmers, and other safety concerns
- Enforce facility rules and regulations to prevent accidents
- Educate patrons about water safety and proper behavior in the aquatic environment
- Act quickly and efficiently in the event of an emergency, performing water rescues and providing first aid and CPR as needed
- Be prepared to use rescue equipment such as rescue tubes, floating devices, and backboards
- Provide clear and concise instructions during emergencies and maintain a professional demeanor
- Maintain excellent physical fitness to perform water rescues and respond to emergencies promptly
Qualifications
- Obtain and maintain a valid lifeguard certification from a recognized training organization
- Have current certifications in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid
- Physically fit and able to swim long distances, tread water, and perform rescues efficiently
- Good communication skills
- Keen observational skills to identify potential hazards and distressed swimmers quickly
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Require a background check to ensure the lifeguard has a clean record
